08 Apr BE SAFE THIS WOMEN’S MONTH WITH THESE 6 SAFETY TIPS.
1. Always be aware – This is your first line of defence. Eliminate the element of surprise by always ensuring you remain aware while going through your day to day duties of work, kids, school run and other errands.
2. Use your sixth sense – Your intuition is a powerful subconscious insight into situations and people. Learn to trust this. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.
3. Always keep your doors locked – While travelling by car, ensure that all the doors are locked and the windows are rolled up.
4. Never walk alone – If it can’t be helped, make sure your phone out of sight and refrain from listening to music. Avoid dark streets and isolated areas. It is also advisable to keep your smartphone location on at all times when on the streets or when going out to functions to be able to help Police in case something happens.
5. Never pull over – when someone points at your car, indicating that something is wrong, do not pull over and exit your vehicle. Suspects may use this as a tactic to attack. Rather drive to the nearest garage or shop and ask for assistance.
6. Hit ‘em where it hurts! – Hit the attacker in areas where it counts. Eyes, knees, throat and groin are very vulnerable and good places to gouge and kick. If you do decide to fight, make sure your first move is as forceful as possible.
